Spiral staircases for main flights need to fully comply with U.K. Building Regulations, British Standard 5395: Part 2. Balustrades and tread-risers on domestic staircases must comply with the important 'no gap greater than 100mm' rule.

Spiral staircases can be found in a range of commercial settings, including showrooms, offices, schools, and restaurants.
Steel spiral staircases are durable and resistant to wear and tear from heavy footfall, which makes them ideal for public areas, and for both internal and external access.
Commercial spiral staircase designs can be relatively simplistic, whilst being fit for purpose - to provide access to a factory walkway, for example - or a bespoke, elaborate design.
