Quick Ways to Revamp Your Home for 2017

Now that we're firmly into 2017, it's time to start thinking about what you want to achieve in your property this year. There are plenty of ways you can give rooms a refresh without having to spend a large amount of money or commit to any large-scale alterations.

If you're looking for some inspiration when it comes to revamping your home, here are eight ideas that you could achieve over a weekend.

A Fresh Coat of Paint

Many aspects of your property can benefit from a quick coat of paint to freshen up the look and bring it right up to date. This could be anything from the walls and skirting boards to the front door or kitchen units.

Organise the Garden

The warmer weather will soon be here, so make sure your outdoor space is ready by giving it a good spruce-up. Give the decking or patio area a good clean, or if you have an outdoor staircase, such as those with stainless handrails, check this doesn't require any maintenance.

Make Use of a Spare Room

Many of us have a spare room that is simply used as a storage space, but with a bit of creativity this could be turned into a much more usable area. For example, you could create a home office, games room, gym or play room.

Add in Some Accessories

Changing a few accessories in a room can quickly give it a whole new look, and this can be achieved on even a small budget. Give a room a cosier feeling by adding in a colourful rug, new cushions or a stylish photo frame, or create an outdoor dining area on a patio or balcony by adding a string of fairy lights along the stainless handrails.

Use Even the Smallest of Spaces

Often houses have very small spaces tucked away that you think are useless, but with some thought you can create a cosy snug, space to work in or a window seat from that tiny corner, the space on the landing or the area underneath the stairs.

Move the Furniture Around

You don't even need to buy anything new to alter the look of a room, and simply rearranging what is already there will freshen up the space. Start by looking at what furniture you have, and move it around to see if this gives you anymore space, or move pieces between rooms to give them a new feel.

Go for a New Colour

A quick way of giving one of your rooms a new feel is to add some different colours into it. This could be as simple as just adding in a few new accessories, or you could go all out and give the whole space a revamp.

Declutter Your Home

Plenty of us keep have of too much clutter that we think we'll need one day, but the truth is that this is just taking up valuable space, so get rid of anything that isn't needed and start the year afresh.
