Staircases and Balustrading at Meridian Court

We were proud to contribute to the refurbishment of Meridian Court in Glasgow, a major NHS Scotland project, transforming the seven-storey building into a modern office environment for around 500 staff.

As part of the refurbishment works, we fabricated and installed bespoke staircases, glass balustrading and architectural metalwork throughout the building, helping create a clean, contemporary workspace that balanced practicality with minimalist design.

Creating a Modern Interior for the NHS

The Meridian Court refurbishment focused on modernising the building, replacing outdated finishes and creating bright, functional office accommodation suitable for modern NHS operations.

The staircase installation became a key visual feature within the building. Designed with a minimalist aesthetic in mind, the staircases combined light timber treads with subtle edge detailing, creating a clean and refined appearance that complemented the wider interior design.

Glass side panels helped keep the staircases feeling open and spacious, while black steel handrails added contrast and definition without overpowering the overall design. The combination of timber, glass and steel created a modern architectural finish that worked perfectly within the refurbished office environment.

Precision Fabrication and Installation

Projects in public sector environments require careful planning, accurate fabrication and close attention to detail throughout.

Every staircase and balustrade had to be manufactured precisely to ensure a seamless fit within the building. The minimalist design left little room for error, meaning fabrication quality and finishing standards were especially important.

The glass and steel balustrading elements also needed to meet strict safety requirements while maintaining the clean visual appearance intended by the architects.

Bespoke Rooftop Garden Metalwork

In addition to the internal staircases and balustrades, we also worked on the steel and glass railings for the rooftop garden areas.

These external spaces were designed to provide people with a welcoming outdoor area while maintaining safe access and a modern appearance. The glass balustrading helped preserve open views across the rooftop space.

We also produced bespoke curved metal planter beds for the rooftop garden, adding softer architectural features that complemented the clean lines of the surrounding steelwork and glazing.

The curved planters introduced a subtle contrast against the straight structural elements, helping create a more relaxed and visually balanced environment for staff using the outdoor space.

Supporting High Quality Commercial Refurbishment

The Meridian Court project highlights the versatility of bespoke fabricated metalwork within modern commercial environments. From internal staircases to rooftop architectural features, we worked closely alongside the wider project team to deliver high-quality steelwork tailored to the needs of the refurbishment.

By combining precise fabrication with modern minimalist design, the finished installation helped transform Meridian Court into a contemporary NHS workspace built around functionality, safety and long-term durability.
